Altare della Madonna del Carmine
L’altare dedicato alla Madonna del Carmelo custodisce la rispettiva pala d’altare raffigurante, in alto al centro, la Vergine con il bambino ed ai lati i Santi carmelitani Simone Stock e Teresa d’Avila. In basso al centro è raffigurato il tema delle anime del Purgatorio mentre ai lati sono raffigurate le Sante Lucia a destra, ed Agata a sinistra. Il dipinto è collocabile cronologicamente alla metà del ‘700 ed è di autore ignoto. Molto probabilmente l’opera è stata realizzata dalla scuola del pittore acese Pietro Paolo Vasta (Acireale, 31 Luglio 1697- Acireale, 28 Novembre 1760).
Altar of Our Lady of Mount Carmen
The altar dedicated to the Virgin of Mount Carmen shows its altarpiece illustrating, in the top centre, the Virgin Mary with the Child, and on the sides, the Carmelite Saints: Simone Stock and Teresa of Avila. In the lower centre, the theme regarding the souls of Purgatory is represented, while on the sides, it is possible to see Saint Lucy on the right, and Saint Agatha on the left. The altarpiece dates back to the XVIth century but the painter is unknown. We can say that this work was probably realized by the school of Pietro Paolo Vasta (a painter who was born and dead in Acireale, 31th July 1697 – 28th November 1760).
